Terms of Service

Last updated: [DATE]

1. What HVAC Referee is

HVAC Referee ("we," "us") provides an independent, document-based review of HVAC quotes you upload ("the Service"). We are not an HVAC contractor, distributor, engineer, or home inspector, and the Service is not a substitute for a licensed in-person inspection or professional engineering opinion.

2. No professional advice or guarantee

Reports are generated by an automated review against our published rubric and are provided for informational purposes to help you evaluate a quote and ask better questions. They are not a certification, warranty, or guarantee of any outcome, and we are not responsible for decisions you make based on a report.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of the quote(s) you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited license to process the file(s) (including with third-party AI processing, see our Privacy Policy) solely to generate your report. You confirm you have the right to upload the document(s) you submit.

4. Payment & refunds

Fees are charged at checkout via Stripe and are generally non-refundable once a report has been delivered. If we're unable to generate your report (e.g. an unreadable file), we'll either fix it or refund that order. Reach out via the contact info below for anything else — we handle these case by case.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to upload documents you don't have the right to share, to attempt to reverse-engineer or abuse the review system, or for any unlawful purpose.

6. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim.

7. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision.

8. Governing law

[STATE/JURISDICTION] — to be finalized with counsel.
